Parenting for a Better World: Social Justice Practices for Your Family and the Planet

Dr. Ellen Ott Marshall and Dr. Susanna Snyder explore what motivated them to write Parenting for a Better World. They address the press of managing social and cultural expectations of parenthood while remaining active in social justice and raising kids.

Dr. Ellen Ott Marshall (M.A. Notre Dame, 1992; M.A./Ph.D. Vanderbilt, 2000) is an Associate Professor of Christian Ethics and Conflict Transformation at Candler School of Theology, Emory University. Dr. Marshall focuses on contemporary Christian ethics, with particular attention to violence, peacebuilding, and conflict transformation. She has written three books, including An Introduction to Christian Ethics: Conflict, Faith, and Human Life (Westminster John Knox Press, 2018). Parenting for a Better World is the third volume she has edited. She lives in Atlanta with her spouse, three kids, and one dog … all of whom are her best teachers about conflict and grace.

Dr. Susanna Snyder is Academic Dean and Lecturer in Ethics and Theology at Ripon College Cuddesdon, Oxford, UK. She is an associate member of the Faculty of Theology and Religion, University of Oxford, and an Anglican priest.
