Armor Down Girls held its inaugural awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements and leadership of girls ages 7-17 and to honor community members and organizations that uplift and empower girls. Themed Confident, Unlimited & Empowered, the awards were held on Saturday in Garrett Seminary’s Loder Hall. The event was sponsored by the Stead Center for Ethics and Values at Garrett Seminary. Evanston educator Felisha Parsons founded Armor Down Girls in 2019, after she saw girls’ confidence levels dwindling in her classroom at District 65’s Dr. Bessie Rhodes School of Global Studies.
