In his article, “From Tech Critique to Ways of Living,” Alan Jacobs writes that a number of authors have written some cogent descriptions of menace of the contemporary technological society or technopoly. Jacobs argues that this description, which he characterizes as the Standard Critique of Technology, is “incisive and remarkably coherent,” but unfortunately does nothing to lessen the danger. Jacobs instead offers an alternative way of resistance, one grounded in the patterns of ordinary living.

The article appears in the current edition of The New Atlantis, published by the Center for the Study of Technology and Society.
